Ethics Policy
The conflict-of-interest, independence and disclosure rules our editorial team follows on every story.
TBN Express is an independent crypto-news and market-data publication. This Ethics Policy explains the principles that govern how our editorial team reports on cryptocurrencies, market movements and the wider blockchain industry. It works alongside our Editorial Policy and Methodology, and applies to every article, guide, coin page and tool we publish.
Editorial independence
Our coverage is never for sale. We do not accept payment to publish, amend, delay or remove editorial content, and no advertiser, sponsor, exchange, token project or affiliate partner is given influence over our reporting or our market data. Commercial relationships are handled entirely separately from the newsroom, and any paid placement is clearly labelled so readers can always tell editorial content apart from promotion. The mechanics of that wall are described in our Advertising & Sponsorship policy.
Accuracy and sourcing
We aim to be accurate, fair and clear. Market figures shown across TBN Express are drawn from third-party data providers and presented for information only; the way we source, calculate and refresh that data is described in full in our Methodology and our Sources & Verification page. Where a claim is contested or uncertain, we say so rather than presenting speculation as fact.
Conflicts of interest
Members of our editorial team are required to avoid situations where a personal financial holding could reasonably influence their coverage, and to disclose any unavoidable conflict. Where an article touches a project we have a material relationship with, that relationship is disclosed within the piece. We do not publish personalised investment advice, price guarantees or “buy now” recommendations.
Personal holdings and trading
Crypto journalism carries an obvious temptation: writing about assets you own. Our rule is simple — coverage decisions are made on editorial merit, never to move a market or a personal position. Contributors must not trade on information before it is public, and must step back from covering an asset where their holdings could reasonably be seen to compromise their judgement.
Gifts, hospitality and funding
We do not accept gifts, payment or hospitality in exchange for coverage, favourable framing or the removal of a story. Where we earn revenue — for example through clearly labelled affiliate links explained in our Affiliate Disclosure — that revenue never buys editorial influence and never changes what we write.
Sources, anonymity and confidentiality
We prefer named, on-the-record sources and primary documents. Where a source needs protection, we honour confidentiality and verify a claim before publishing it. We do not publish unverified rumours, anonymous “insider” tips presented as fact, or invented quotes. If we cannot stand a claim up, we leave it out.
Originality and plagiarism
We publish our own work. We do not pass off another outlet’s reporting as ours; where we build on someone else’s journalism we credit and, where appropriate, link to it. Quotation is attributed, and data is sourced to its provider.
Use of AI
Software, including AI tools, may assist us with research and editing, but a human editor is accountable for every published claim. We never use AI to fabricate a journalist, a source, a quote or a market figure. The detail is set out in our AI Use & Disclosure policy.
Corrections and accountability
When we get something wrong, we fix it transparently. Readers can report errors at any time, and our process for reviewing and publishing corrections is set out on our Corrections page. If you have a question about how we work or want to raise a concern, please get in touch through our Contact page. You can also read more about who we are on the Editorial Team page.
Fairness and representation
Treating subjects fairly is part of working ethically, not an optional courtesy. We aim to represent people, projects and protocols accurately, to give appropriate context rather than cherry-picking detail, and to distinguish clearly between what is established fact, what is a claim made by an interested party, and what is our own analysis. Where a story reflects on a named person or company, we make a genuine effort to represent their position accurately rather than only the case against them. Fairness does not mean false balance — we will not give equal weight to a baseless claim — but it does mean being honest about the strength of the evidence and avoiding language that prejudges what we have not established.
Avoiding market manipulation
Crypto coverage carries a particular ethical hazard: words and timing can move prices, and that creates an incentive to misuse a platform. We refuse to participate in any form of market manipulation. We do not publish to “pump” or “dump” an asset, we do not take positions designed to profit from our own coverage, and we do not coordinate with anyone seeking to use us that way. Our analysis is offered to inform, never to engineer a price move, and our independence and personal-holdings rules exist precisely to keep that line bright. Reporting honestly on a volatile market means being acutely aware of how the reporting itself could be abused, and guarding against it.
Respecting reader privacy
Acting ethically toward readers includes how we handle their information. We collect only what we need, we do not sell the contents of messages readers send us, and we treat sensitive tips and confidential sources with care. The full detail of how personal information is handled is set out in our privacy policy, but the ethical principle behind it is simple: the trust readers place in us by visiting the site and contacting us is something to protect, not to exploit. That obligation sits alongside the others on this page rather than separate from them.
How we apply these principles
An ethics policy is only as good as its practice, so these commitments are not aspirational statements kept at arm’s length — they are the working rules our editorial team applies to every page. They are reinforced by our published editorial policy, our fact-checking standards, and our corrections process, which together turn principle into routine. Where we fall short, we would rather acknowledge and fix it openly than defend it, and reader scrutiny is part of how we stay honest. If you believe we have not lived up to these standards, our contact page is open and we take such concerns seriously.
