Dhaka, Bangladesh — The much-anticipated Honours Admission Result 2025 of the National University (NU) admission test for the 2024–25 academic session is set to be announced any day this week, as confirmed by the university’s Vice-Chancellor Professor A.S.M. Amanullah.
Speaking to the media on Saturday night following a Syndicate meeting at the university’s Dhanmondi office, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the result is ready for publication and is currently undergoing final verification. “The result will be published between June 23 and June 25. All necessary preparations are complete,” he assured.
Over 5.5 Lakh Applicants Sat for Honours Admission
This year’s NU admission test, held on May 31 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The admission test in National University return after eight years of break. The test was conducted simultaneously across 879 centers in 64 districts. As per the report, about 550,000 students from all over the country participated the admission test.
The university had discontinued written admission tests after the 2014–15 academic year. They introduced the GPA based system to admitting students based on GPA scores from SSC and HSC. However, the admission test was reintroduced for the 2024–25 session.
Honours Admission Result 2025: Evaluation Process
The test followed a multiple-choice (MCQ) format consisting of 100 marks, with a duration of one hour. Interested candidates had to score at least 35 to pass the test. Candidates will get 1 mark for each correct answer. However, there is no negative marking like other admission tests.
Final merit lists will be prepared based on a composite score out of 200 marks. This includes:
- MCQ exam score
- 40% of the SSC GPA (with 4th subject)
- 60% of the HSC GPA
Steps to check Honours Admission Result
Once the National University publishes the results, students can follow the steps below to access their results online:
- Step 1: Visit the Official NU Admission Website – Go to the official result portal at http://www.nu.ac.bd/admissions. (Alternatively, you can also check: http://admission.nu.edu.bd)
- Step 2: Click on “Applicant Login” (Under Honors Tab) – On the homepage, find the section titled “Honours”. Under this section, click on “Applicant Login”
- Step 3: Enter Your Admission Roll and PIN – Input your Admission Roll Number. Enter your PIN number (received during online application). If you forgot your PIN, use the “Recover PIN” option.
- Step 4: Click the “Login” Button – After entering the correct details, click on the “Login” button.
- Step 5: View Your Result – Once logged in, your Admission Test Result, Merit Position, and College Preference Status will be displayed on the screen.
- Step 6: Download or Print (Optional) Click on the “Print” button to save a copy Or take a screenshot of your result.
Seat Availability and Quotas
According to the University Grants Commission (UGC), undergraduate honors courses under National University are available in 881 colleges nationwide. Among these, 264 are government-run, while 617 are privately managed.
In the previous 2022–23 academic year, NU offered 436,285 seats in its honors programs. On the other hand, there were 421,990 seats allocated for the first-year Degree (pass course) program across 1,969 colleges for the 2023–24 academic year.
As per NU policy, a total of eight seats per subject are reserved under various quotas:
- 3 for children of freedom fighters
- 1 for indigenous students
- 1 for students with disabilities
- 3 for dependents of institutional employees
