The Public Service Commission (PSC) has officially released the most awaited 48th BCS Circular to recruit 3,000 doctors. The written examination for this notification will be held in July 2025.

The authority of PSC has officially made the announcement on Thursday, May 29, 2025. A notice has issued on the official website at bpsc.gov.bd. A total of 2,700 assistant surgeons and 300 assistant dental surgeons will be recruited with this Special BCS Circular.

It is said on the notification that, the online application for 48 BCS Circular will be start on June 1, 2025. Interested candidates can submit their application till June 25, 2025. The application fee has been set at Tk 200 for general applicants and Tk 50 for candidates from underprivileged groups.

The PSC aims to recruit 2,700 assistant surgeons and 300 assistant dental surgeons, according to the circular published on its official website.

Note that, about 9,000 doctors were recruited to public sector posts in the previous notifications, through the special 39th and 42nd BCS examinations.

48th BCS Exam Date

The exam date for the special 48th BCS is a important part for all candidates. As per the notice issued by the PSC, the written exam is likely to be held in the second week of July. Although an exact date has not been finalized, candidates should begin preparing now.

This special exam will be held for 300 marks, distributed as 200 for the written test and 100 for the viva voce. The written test itself will contain 200 MCQs, to be answered within a 2-hour window.

The written exam will focus on two areas: 100 marks for general topics such as analytical ability, general science, and language skills, and another 100 marks on subject-related knowledge specific to medical or dental sciences.

Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the special 48th BCS exam, candidates must meet a set of eligibility requirements outlined in the official circular. These criteria are non-negotiable and ensure that only qualified and prepared individuals take part in the recruitment process.

To begin with, applicants must hold a MBBS or BDS degree from a recognized medical college or university. The degree must be approved by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC).

The age limit is 32 years as of the date mentioned in the circular. However, candidates from underprivileged or tribal backgrounds may receive some relaxation in age, as per government rules. Candidates should double-check all documents, degrees, and certificates before proceeding to apply.

How to Apply Online

The application window opens on June 1 at 10 AM and will close on June 25 at 6 PM. Applicants should not wait until the last minute, as website traffic and technical issues can cause delays.

Here are the step-by-step instructions to apply online:

  • Visit the PSC official website at www.bpsc.gov.bd.
  • Look for the “Special 48th BCS Circular 2025” link on the homepage.
  • Click on the link and read the full circular carefully to understand all requirements.
  • Select the “Apply Online” button under the circular section.
  • Fill in all necessary fields, including personal details, academic qualifications, and internship information.
  • Upload a recent passport-size photo and signature as per the specifications provided.
  • Choose the appropriate post (Assistant Surgeon or Assistant Dental Surgeon).
  • Review your application thoroughly before submission.
  • Submit the application form and you’ll receive a User ID.
  • Use this User ID to pay the application fee via Teletalk SMS service.
  • After payment, you’ll receive a confirmation message. Keep it for future reference.
