BASEL, Switzerland / LONDON, UK –
HEK (House of Electronic Arts) and Tezos Foundation announced Auronda Scalera and Alfredo Cramerotti as the curatorial duo. They will lead the first of two virtual exhibitions. This marks the beginning of the 2026 partnership.
The show will premiere on the virtual.hek.ch platform, opening June 12th, 2026. The partnership officially launches the curatorial process for the first exhibition.
The organizers actively prepare the showcase, which will run through mid-August. This marks a significant step in bringing the collaboration to life.
Scalera and Cramerotti actively pursue a collaborative practice across institutional and digital contexts. They previously curated Art Dubai Digital, demonstrating their expertise in shaping innovative cultural platforms.
They also advise institutions and cultural bodies such as the British Council and the Italian Ministry of Culture.
For the HEK Virtual Exhibition, Scalera and Cramerotti will bring their distinct perspectives. They will focus on experimental media art that engages with advanced technologies.
Their curatorial concept, 404_LAND, adopts the error as both its central metaphor and philosophical framework.
The group exhibition unites artists who explore overlooked spaces and hidden territories of the internet. They consider how these digital interstices can be rediscovered within structured systems of IP networks, algorithms, and firewalls.
The virtual exhibition is open to all online. A dedicated kiosk in the HEK lobby will provide access throughout its duration. This would allow visitors to experience the works both inside and outside the museum walls.
Another key element of the presentation will be the release of Tezos-based NFTs on the objkt.com marketplace. It will also feature a virtual opening tour with Scalera and Cramerotti. The full curatorial concept and participating artists will be announced in May.
Curators’ Statement
“We are genuinely excited to be working with HEK and the Tezos Foundation on what feels like a timely and necessary project. 404_LAND begins where the internet pretends to end. We are drawn to these thresholds, the broken links, the unreachable addresses, the spaces between servers, because they reveal something true about how digital systems exercise power and produce invisibility. This exhibition brings together artists who refuse to accept the error message, and instead ask: what lives on the other side of the wall?” Auronda Scalera and Alfredo Cramerotti, Curators
